荷花挺水生長，睡蓮葉子及花朵都浮在水面上，荷花花期五至六月，一朵花的壽命三至四天。睡蓮全年都會開花，主要在夏季，通常白天開花晚上閉合被譽為「花中睡美人」。
The leaves of the lotus stand above water, while the leaves and flowers of the water lily float on the water surface. Lotus flowers bloom from May to July and last for 3 to 4 days. Water lilies bloom all year round, especially in summer.
