原產於中美及南美洲，又稱發財樹，典故為因無法出車的司機在家中與幫忙從事美髮工作的妻子，一時突發奇想，隨手把五棵馬拉巴栗種在同一盆子，並把它們的枝幹彎曲成辮子狀，改名為「發財樹」出售。此後成為東南亞最普遍的觀賞植物之一。
This tree, native to Central and South America, is also commercially sold under the name Money Tree. A driver, who was helping his hair stylist wife at home while waiting for work, came up with a business idea. He planted five Malabar Chestnut trees into one pot, braided the trunks together and gave it the name "Money Tree". Since then, this tree has been widely sold with braided trunks as a festive ornament. It is now one of the most common ornamental trees in Southeast Asia.飯店種植區域： 21棟
